A New Outdoor Market Arrives on the West Coast: The Social Grove Launches This Saturday
Kleine Hopefield Destination Farm, just outside Hopefield, is opening its gates to a new market this weekend – and it’s one built for slowing down rather than rushing through.
The Social Grove holds its first market on Saturday 5 September 2026, set beneath blue gum trees on the farm. Expect local makers and small businesses, good food, a drink under the trees, and live music, with plenty of open space for kids to explore. At around 90 minutes from Cape Town, it’s an easy day trip for those looking to swap the usual weekend routine for something outdoors.
The next date is already locked in for 26 September, which happens to coincide with a Titan Obstacle Course race at the same venue – so expect a bigger crowd and a livelier atmosphere second time around.
Beyond these two dates, the longer-term plan is to grow The Social Grove into a weekly Saturday fixture through summer, with the odd special edition – think night markets, thrift markets, a Christmas market – added along the way to keep things fresh.
