The Green Point Flea Market is finally back!
🌟 Green Point Flea Market Returns After 15 Years
After a 15-year pause, the much-loved Green Point Flea Market is making a triumphant return to its original site — bringing back a cherished part of Cape Town’s trading culture.
The market reopens this Sunday, 11 May and will trade weekly from 8am to 6pm, except during major stadium events. Once a regular Sunday highlight, the market closed in 2009 ahead of the FIFA World Cup stadium upgrades. Now, thanks to years of community lobbying and support from the City of Cape Town, it’s back — and so are many of the original traders.
More than 200 vendors will be setting up shop, offering a rich mix of street food, handcrafted goods, vintage finds, clothing, ceramics, and more. Look out for Cape Malay favourites like koesisters and samoosas, as well as crafts made by a new generation of traders continuing their family traditions.
Rosheda Muller, chairperson of the Green Point Flea Market and National President of NITASA, said the reopening is both a celebration and a much-needed boost for informal traders:

Organisers are urging the public to show up and support this historic relaunch — helping to ensure the market once again becomes a beloved Sunday staple in Cape Town.
