Cape Point Vineyards Market returns for summer
Long summer evenings, fresh produce, local makers and the Atlantic turning gold behind it all. The Thursday market at Cape Point Vineyards reopened on 1 October and runs through to April.
The weekly community market at Cape Point Vineyards in Noordhoek is back for the summer season, and Thursday evenings on the south peninsula have their anchor again. Locals and out-of-towners gather from 4.30pm for street food-style dishes, live music and the estate’s award-winning wines.
The market sets up in the picnic area, which looks out across ocean, vines and mountain. The timing is deliberate: the market runs into the evening, so you get the sunset over False Bay while you eat. Bring a picnic blanket, find a patch of grass and settle in.
Beyond the food and wine, there are long stretches of open lawn and a jungle gym for children, live music through the evening, and ample parking on the estate.
A few things worth knowing before you go. No pets are allowed, and no outside food or drink may be brought into the market area. Because of the setting, drinks are served in plastic cups. Wine glasses are available to buy on the night, or you are welcome to bring your own glassware.
