About This Market
Volunteer Wildfire Services opens its Newlands Forest base for a day built around real firefighting equipment, from a helicopter water drop to fire truck rides and the chance to handle an actual hose. A K9 tracking display, an obstacle course with guided abseiling, and a reptile exhibition on local fynbos and biodiversity round out the activities, and 2026’s newly qualified VWS firefighters will be presented on the day.
It closes with the organisation’s long-running foam party. Food and drinks stalls, VWS merchandise and kids’ toys fill out the rest, with all proceeds going toward VWS firefighting efforts for the 2026/27 fire season.
