About This Market

A much-loved annual fête in Stellenbosch, back for another year of food, music and community spirit. All proceeds go to the care and support of adults with primary intellectual disabilities at Huis Horison.

The morning starts with the Horison Challenge Trail Run at 7am (10km, 5km and 3km routes), and the fête opens at 9am. Expect traditional food stalls loaded with roosterkoek, lamb on the spit, boerewors rolls, pancakes and skilpadjies, plus fresh bread, eggs and vegetables to take home.

It’s a good spot to start your Christmas shopping too, with woodwork, needlework and decorations from the Huis Horison workrooms, alongside bric-a-brac, thrift clothing, pottery and a well-known second-hand bookstore. There’s a Potjiekos Competition to enter (R400 per team of 2-4), an antique car exhibition, and plenty for children with games, Tombola and a jumping castle. Weskaap Boereorkes play live, König Coffee and Village Thyme keep everyone fed, and you can stay on to watch the Springboks take on Italy on the big screen from 1:40pm.

The night before, Friday Sundowners (5pm to 7pm) open the weekend with music, beer, wine, boeries and rotis, and late entries for the trail run.
