FynbosLIFE Fair: Fire, Ecology & Inspiration
The FynbosLIFE Fair returns to Zandvlei Lookout in Muizenberg this November with the theme Fire, exploring its vital role in fynbos ecology.
The event features talks and demonstrations by experts from SPCA Wildlife Unit, Working With Fire, Cape Town Fire Department, and Volunteer Wildfire Services, along with ecologists Dr Glynis Humphrey and Dr Caitlin von Witt. Visitors can learn about fire’s role in conservation, biodiversity, and fynbos restoration.
Expect a thoughtfully curated mix of fynbos plants, conservation groups, artisans, food and drinks, and fynbos-inspired creations — from ceramics and fabrics to gin, honey, and eco homeware. Kids can enjoy the FUNbos play area with hands-on environmental activities and fire safety demos.
The fair also spotlights FynbosLIFE’s Veld Circles, community-based restoration projects across Cape Town, and welcomes new exhibitors such as the Cape Leopard Trust, Endangered Wildlife Trust, and Lepidopterists’ Society of Africa.
