🎭✨ Cape Town Carnival: A Parade of Afr’energy in the City Streets 🌍🔥

Each year, the Cape Town Carnival brings a powerful surge of colour, rhythm and movement to the heart of the Mother City. This much-loved annual parade transforms Green Point’s Fan Walk along Somerset Road into a stage of celebration, where community groups and performers from across the Western Cape showcase the richness of South African culture and creativity.

Returning in its classic parade format, the event unfolds over the course of the afternoon and evening. The Fan Walk is closed to traffic to create a pedestrian-friendly space where spectators can enjoy pre-event entertainment before the pre-parade begins, leading into the main parade spectacle after sunset.

With close to 1,500 performers taking part, the parade features a dynamic mix of dance styles, artistic expression and large-scale floats, all united under a themed concept that changes each year. Community groups from across the province bring their own distinctive flair, resulting in a production that reflects both individuality and shared cultural pride.

Now in its twelfth edition and firmly established as an iconic free annual event in Cape Town, the Carnival’s impact extends well beyond parade night. Throughout the year, it supports job creation, skills development and meaningful community participation.

🎟️ Entry: Free to attend. Paid seating options are available for those who prefer a reserved view.
